From a Dream to a Blossoming Reality…
Wayne Hansen, the founder of Swallow Hill Lavender, preparing for the farm’s first planting.
From Flight to Farm
Hidden in the foothills of Glencoe, New Mexico, Swallow Hill Lavender farm stands as a testament to both the serenity of nature and the power of one man’s dream. Wayne Hansen, seeking a quiet place to get away, stumbled upon the rustic farm as if fate itself had guided him there. This rich land, once witness to the rugged legacy of cowboys herding cattle and shaping the frontier, now bore witness to his aspirations of cultivating a different kind of bounty—the delicate blooms of lavender.

Guided by a deep intuition and unwavering faith in its potential, Wayne purchased the farm sight unseen. Despite its rich history, it wasn’t until Wayne was preparing the fields for its first planting that he discovered the name. In the wake of his movements, bugs stirred, taking flight and becoming a feast for the graceful swallows that called the farm home. Mesmerized by their beauty, he decided he would call the farm Swallow Hill as a tribute to the feathery friends he discovered.
Fostering Kinship
In the vibrant blooms and the echoes of history, Swallow Hill Lavender farm transcends its role as a mere destination, emerging as a hub of community and camaraderie. Wayne strives towards fostering kinship between the farm and local artisans and event leaders, with a dream of creating unity between the nearby communities. Through collaboration and unique experiences, Swallow Hill Lavender farm becomes a cherished symbol of belonging for all who step foot on its grounds.
